Two years ago today, I helped my precious Joey go over the Rainbow Bridge. It as the hardest thing I've ever had to do. He was only with us for 2 months but there's not a day goes by that I don't think of him.

Once again, Mama has taken FUREVER to help us blog!! We have been furry busy purring & purraying for all of our sick furiends. Plus we've been havin to take care of Mama for the last week...she's been barkin like a seal (that's what she calls it anyway). At first she scared us right off her lap when she started makin that horrible noise! Now we pretty much stay put unless she has to run to the litterbox room, somethin about not bein able to hold her water when she coughs. You guys know how weird beans are.
We're hopin she'll start doin better on the bloggie, but you know how that goes...she always says she will but it doesn't happen. Guess we can always hope.

We also want to thank our furiends for the purrs, purrayers & well wishes for our Auntie Pam. Her surgery went furry well & the bean v-e-t said she was doing fine. He got all of the tumor out, for which we are all thankful. She was still sleeping when Mama & Auntie Lori had to leave, but we are purraying for a quick healing. Thank you all again, it means the world to all of us.

We know we haven't been blogging or commenting much lately & maybe we've lost a few furiends because of it (which we hate), but Mama has been struggling. She says it's too hard to pretend efurrything's ok.
We really need purrs, grrs, purrayers, tail wags & prayers for our Auntie Pam. She has been fighting one cancer after another for the last 25 years & she's kept beating it. But, cancer has reared it's ugly head again & Auntie Pam has to have a cancerous tumor removed from her tummy. It's going to be tricky for the bean v-e-t to remove because she has had several abdominal surgeries & the last one they had to work hard to "piece" her back together.
Mama & Auntie Lori are going to St. Louis with Auntie Pam today so they can be with her for her surgery on Thursday. So, if all our furiends that we have left could send up purrs & purrayers & maybe get your beans to say prayers for Auntie Pam, we would appreciate it greatly.

We've been laying low for the past week or so cause we're under attack!! Mama says it's just walnuts falling from the trees. We don't know what walnuts are, but somebody is lobbing these big green balls at our house! They do it all day & all night...there's just no peace around here. We are sooo glad we're indoor kitties, can't imagine trying to dodge those crazy things!! Sometimes it sounds like they're gonna come through the house...it's really scary around here!!

Today is Fessy's 6th Gotcha Day!! As usual, Mama didn't have time to work up a party but at least she remembered. She's says it's hard to believe it's been 6 years already since he came home with her.

We are also celebrating Auntie ML this weekend! She does so much for all of us & our beans & she deserves all of our thanks & love!! If it weren't for Auntie ML, we wouldn't be blogging (not that Mama posts furry often). She helped Mama pay for Fessy's v-e-t bill when we almost lost him due to nasty ole fleas. Then, she & Auntie Deb set up the bloggy for us so we could meet our furiends we'd only read about. When we lost Joey, Auntie ML helped Mama so much, she understood what Mama was going through. So, Auntie ML, thank you so furry much for all you do...we all love you furry much!!

We all know Mama is getting old & forgetful, but she was shocked to see on the CB that it was our Blogoversary. She said it just snuck right up on her...yeah & if it had been a snake, it woulda bit her!
She's always been slow but we don't know if the heat fried her brain (what there is of it) or if she's just losing her mind completely. She's forgotten birthdays, gotcha days & now this...it's gotta stop!

Mama actually forgot it was Fes' birthday!! If she hadn't read it on the Cat Blogosphere bloggie, there probably wouldn't be a new post. We are seriously thinking of telling her she's fired & looking for a new Mama. One that remembers important dates!!

Our furiend Toby was helped to the Bridge yesterday morning. The v-e-t said that he most likely had bladder cancer. Mama was furry sad when she got to work & found out. She couldn't get leaky eyed though cause the little sticky beans don't know yet that Toby's not coming back.
Mama's really gonna miss him because other than the Mom & Dad bean, she was the only one Toby let pet him. He was not a furry social cat.
We know he's in a better place & not in pain anymore. That's what's most important.

Mama's reporting of Toby's journey to the Bridge was a bit premature. Seems that Toby changed his mind about going & started eating & drinking! He's still got a ways to go...he lost LOTS of weight & he is almost 16, but he seems to be feeling much better.

The beans that Mama work for are owned by a kitty named Toby. He has been furry sick & they are afraid that he may have to be helped to the Bridge. So, if you could send purrs, purrayers, tail wags or what efur we would appreciate it. Most likely Toby's beans will be taking him to a "real" v-e-t today. Our v-e-t is nice but he's pretty much just a country v-e-t & mostly works on livestock. His office doesn't have a lab or equipment to really test for problems. So, again, all purrs will be appreciated.

Anyway, Emma's been with us for 5 years...time flies by pretty fast. We still remember when Mama brought little Emma home, she looked like a bite-sized snack! She hated Fes on sight & still isn't very fond of him. If he gets too close to her, she still growls & hisses at him! She & I (Sammy) get along OK, although she's gotten pretty fiesty with me lately.

What with Mama being sick she didn't feel like planning a party, but she's goin back to work today sooo, efurrybuddy can come on over & party while Mama's gone. She bought a big bag of food & we have plenty of temp-tay-shons so we shouldn't go hungry! What Mama don't know won't hurt us, right??

Update on Mama: she had her eye v-e-t visit today & no vision loss!! Although the shingles still have to run their course, the eye v-e-t said it is unlikely to affect Mama's eye if it hasn't by now. Thank you so much for your purrs, tail wags & good thoughts!!

Sorry we haven't been around much. Between all of our furiends that have run off to the Bridge, all of our furiends that are sick & having work done on our house has had Mama stressed. Then when precious Shell went to the Bridge, Mama lost the will to blog. Or comment much. So, we talked her into posting about the work we had done. We all know she's reall crappy at getting pictures to line up right on our bloggie, so please forgive her cause she doesn't know what she's doing. This is the lovely kitchen ceiling before all manner of strange beans came to fix it. It's been like this for a couple years.

This is the litterbox room ceiling. This happened last summer before Mama got the roof fixed. Actually this put a fire under Mama's butt to get the roof fixed.

The kitchen ceiling after. It looks sooo much better & we're glad all this work is finished!

We were NOT happy when 6 strange male beans came into our house last Friday. We added greatly to Mama's stress level. Mama was in the kitchen talking to some of the strange beans, then she came into the living room. (We also got a new front door) She just about had a heart attack because the beans had the front door open & she hadn't put us kitties in the bedroom yet....and no kitties were to be seen. She ran outside & no kitties could be seen out there either. She found Sammy pretty quick behind the couch but didn't find me (Festus) or Emma. She looked efurry where (or so she thought) & was frantic because she thought we got out. When all the strange beans left, 4 hours later, Em & I decided to come out from under the couch!! She didn't think we could get our fat bootys under there but we did! We got LOTS of loves & treats cause she was so happy to see us!!!

Mama says this is way too long & she hopes efurrybuddy reads it. Hey, we're just trying to make up for lost time, right?

Guess winter isn't ready to go just yet. It started snowing about 3:00 yesterday afternoon.....not what Mama wanted for her birthday! But she has to admit that it does look pretty.

She did get a new heater for her

birthday. She watched 2 guys install the new heater, run new gas line, re-vent the water heater & "fix" our kitchen heater. it only took them a little over 11 hours.

And where were we during all that time? We were shut up in the human litterbox room. For. Over. 11. Hours. NOT a good thing for us!! We scratched on the door, stuck our paws under to try to open the door & we meowed as loud as we could. Sure, we had food, water & poo boxes, but really? Over 11 hours in 1 room, that's just cruel. And one of the guys is coming back tomorrow to "fix" the "fixed" heater again. Guess where we're gonna be??

UPDATE: Now we're under a blizzard warning & are expecting up to 26 inches of snow!! Mama is freakin out!

When Mama got home from work Friday night, the icicle had fallen on the ground & broke into a bunch of pieces. It was too dark then to take a picture of it & she forgot about it till Saturday afternoon. It was too late then cause the temp got up to 40 degrees & things were kind of melty.

It will probably be back soon, though. We are supposed to start getting freezing rain today & 12-18 inches of snow Tuesday & Wednesday. We are already under a winter storm warning until Wednesday.

We don't really care, we're indoor cats but Mama is not happy at all. She keeps wandering around the house muttering " I hate winter, I HATE winter!!" She did go shopping yesterday to get us some more food so we're prepared. Mama better have enough of her own food cause we're not sharing!

Our Secret Paws for 2010 was Kaltsas Kats!!

Sammy started out sitting on the box while waiting for Mama to help us open it.

We got a stocking FULL of toys & some catnip, a HUGE bag of tem-tay-shons, a BIG bag of cat grass & a Christmas card with pictures of Patches & Nemo on it!!!

We LOVED checking it all out, even more eating the treats & playing with the toys!!

Anyway, we are having our first white Christmas in 8 years!! We've been having fun watching the big snowflakes falling! Mama's not so happy about it though. She wishes it would have waited a little later in the day to start snowing. She missed out on her family Christmas gathering cause she didn't wanna drive 25 miles in the pretty snow. She's not the most confident driver in good weather, so this really put her off. She'll get over it though.

We got our first snow of the season yesterday. Not very much but more than Mama wanted. She's not a fan of winter weather...she's really not happy that the temp is 7 degrees!

We got Mama to get our Christmas cards ready & our Secret Paws package ready to mail. She had the Secret Paws package all sealed up when she realized she forgot to put our note in with it. Some days she's just useless, *sigh*.....

Wordy Wednesday

We really gotta keep a good watch on Mama or she will be bringing in another kitty. Yesterday when she went to get the mail, there was this small tortie cat sittin on our back step. She petted & loved on him/her for a bit then walked on to the mailbox. The kitty followed her! I mean, really, she's our mama...not his/hers! Our mailbox is across the highway, so Mama picked up the kitty cause she didn't want him/her on the road. The kitty didn't want to be held, so he/she jumped down & beat Mama across the road then followed her back home.
Mama came in & got the very last of our stinky goodness & some crunchies & took it out for the kitty to eat. Our LAST stinky goodness!!! Doesn't matter that we won't eat it, it's the principle of the matter!
Anyway, when Mama came back in the house, that kitty tried to come in with her!! Mama is very tempted, especially since it's turned off real cold, but she can't afford to take him/her to the v-e-t. And after efurrything with Joey last year, she doesn't know if her heart could take it. So we're on a wait-n-see watch. We keep tellin her we don't need anymore kitties here!!

Mama here. I am totally at my wits end! I squeeze Fessy's ear as hard as I can & get little to nothing out...seems like I'm just making it worse. It is now so swollen that you can hardly see his ear canal.
I read that the hematoma will heal itself eventually, but it takes awhile & is very painful. I just know that I can't afford to keep taking him to the vet & torturing him only to see it get worse.
If anyone out there in cat blog land has any suggestions, I would really appreciate them. I don't know what else to do.

Another Update on Festus

Mama took Fessy back to the v-e-t today. She had to drop him off after lunch & pick him up around 4:00. This time they just cut a hole in his ear, but didn't put stitches around like last time. The v-e-t told Mama to make sure she squeezes his ear 4 or 5 times a day. She doesn't know why he didn't put a drain in, probably because he's a country v-e-t & maybe he just doesn't do that. He doesn't recommend using a hot compress. We're just hoping it heals up this time. It's hard on Fes & it's hard on Mama. Her eyes leak something terrible when she has to squeeze on his ear, she hates hurting him like that but that's all she can do right now.

Fes saw the v-e-t today & he sang to Mama both ways! Oh Funny Farmers, we only wish we could raise money that way, we'd be rich!! The v-e-t stuck a needle in Fessy's hear in 3 different places to drain it (ouchie!!). He said for Mama to keep an eye on it (that's weird) & to let him know if it fills up again. Mama said that Festus was the best boy & never made a sound while all that was going on. He laid still, well Mama & another lady was holding on to him, but he was really good. Too bad that didn't happen on the way home, hee, hee.
When they got home, Mama opened a can of stinky goodness for all of us to share! Only thing is, we just licked the gravy off & Festus is trying to cover the rest up. Oh well, the gravy was good!!
Thanks for all the purrs, maybe we can keep em up so that his ear finally heals. Thanks everybuddy, we love you!!!

Mama has to take Festus back to the v-e-t. His ear quit draining so she stopped squeezing it, but now it's all puffed up behind the stitches....so, back to the v-e-t. Fun, fun,fun....NOT!!!
So, we'll make Mama update sometime after the v-e-t visit. Festus will probably sing to her again on the way, we think he sings Opera. She says, thank goodness it's only 7 miles to the clinic!

We are thankful that Festus is home & on the mend. He still has a lot of pain, especially when Mama has to squeeze his ear to help it drain. He's still hiding behind the big chair quite a bit but he comes out to love with Mama once in awhile. We'll just be glad when he's all better.

UPDATE:

Teri & the cats from Furrydance is right, it's a hematoma. Both ears are infected & the v-e-t wants to keep Festus overnight. Mama didn't even ask how much it was gonna cost, she was so sad he had to stay.

Please send out some purrs for Festus. Mama was loving on him & found that his left ear is all swollen & puffed up. She said it feels hot to touch & so tight it could explode! She's gonna try to get him in to the v-e-t tomorrow before she has to go to work. Please purr that it's nothin serious....

Mama forgot!!

OMC!! Can you believe that Mama forgot our 2nd Blogoversary?!? It's bad enough that she hardly lets us blog anymore, but this is almost unforgivable! The only reason it's not totally unforgivable is that she got us presents yesterday.
She got us some new food dishes & we really like them. Sammy has a bad habit of fishing the food out of the bowl with his paw, then eating what doesn't fall in the floor. Mama got tired of sweeping up catfood & throwing it out the door, so she thought these might work out better. These dishes sit in a stand that is about 7 1/2 inches tall. Now we can sit up & eat our foods instead of almost laying down. Mama is quite pleased to see no food on the floor around the dishes.
She also got us a Furminator! She's wanted to get us one for a long time but thought they were just too many green papers. But she saw one on Amazon.com for $8.50 + $4.99 for shipping! What was even better, she had a little over $7 left on an Amazon gift card she forgot about, so it only cost about $6.....what a bargain!! We also got some more treats & we do love our treats! So that's why we gotta forgive her for her forgetting our blogoversary.
Mama's leg is lots better. It's still draining a little & she promised 2 beans that if it's still draining after she finishes her Aunty-biotics, that she will go back to her v-e-t & have it checked again. She says she's had lots of kitty bites over the years but never one like this. It hurt so bad she could hardly walk for a few days. One good thing came of it though, she's a lot more careful about where she puts her big ole feets! She looks pretty funny when she gets up to use her litterbox in the dark & she's scooting her feet all the way there & back.

Easy weekend

This is why we're having an especially easy weekend:

Mama accidentally stepped on Emma early Wednesday moring & Emma bit Mama's leg. This is what it looked like Friday morning so Mama decided to go to the bean v-e-t place to get it checked. She has a furry bad infection & has to take Aunty-biotics & she had to get a tetanus shot. She has to stay off her feet as much as possible & keep her leg elevated, so we are taking turns purring on her.

Lots of other beans think Mama should be mad at Emmy, but she knows Emmy didn't mean to hurt her. In fact, after it happened, Mama was crying & telling Emma she was sorry that she hurt her! Some beans just don't understand. Besides, we know it was Mama's fault, she needs to watch where she's putting those big feet of hers.

Well as you can see, the putting down of the paws didn't work. Mama has excuse after excuse why she hasn't helped us blog. Did we wanna hear them? No, we told her we didn't want excuses, we want to blog. Really, how hard is it to sit at the computer & help us?? I can't believe that it's been 7 years since I came here to live with Mama! "Daddy" lived here then, but I was pretty much Mama's boy...still am, `cept I have to share her with Fes & Emma.

We are so sorry that we haven't blogged in so long. Between jobbie issues, losing Joey & trying to help a family member going through domestic abuse, Mama hasn't really felt like helping us blog.

We've been making her read our furiends bloggies but the comments have been very few & far between. All of us feel real bad about that, but what's a kitty to do?? We did make her sign up for the Squillion give-away & we can't believe we actually won!!

We are waaay behind on "Thank yous", clear back to our Secret Paws gifts (heads hung down in shame). We'll be working on Mama to get that done soon!

There is some good news to report, Mama has been working as a substitute in the daycare for Teen Parent Services off & on the past couple months. And today she starts back taking care of her sticky bean & blurpy!! She's so excited because she can still sub if they need her at the daycare since she will be taking care of the other 2 in the evening! So, the green paper situation should be getting better....what a relief!!!

Hopefully we will be getting back in full blogging mode furry soon.

It's been one month since our Joey went to the Bridge, it doesn't seem possible that he's been gone that long. Mama's eyes still get leaky for him every day, but she is doing better. We all purr on her a little more than we used to & we think that might help a little.

Mama was on TV tonight!! That makes her famous, right??

She was a substitute at the Teen Parent Services childcare today, that means she got to play with little blurps & sticky beans. Our local news did a story on teen pregnancy, so they were at the school taping the teen beans & their little beans. When the news beans came in the childcare room, they taped Mama rocking two little sticky beans. There was three different shots of her so we're pretty sure she must be at least a little famous. We were furry excited!

Hi efurrybuddy, we want to let you know that we're doing OK. Mama still gets leaky eyes & she still misses Joey alot, but she's doing better. In that respect anyway. She's been kind of sicky the last few days. She says her head feels like there's a big drum pounding in it, she's had eye boogers, nose boogers....you name it.

We do want to thank efurryone for the condolence messages, it was nice to know that so many of our furiends were thinking of us. And we met some new furiends, too!
We also want to thank Charlemagne & Tamar & Mom Colleen for the donation & the beautiful card. And ML & the Sherwood Bunch for their donation & ML for helping Mama through a very dark time. She also had a gift made for Mama & we will post pictures later.
We would be lost without all our furiends, we love you guys, thank you for everything!

Joey is an angel

Around 4:45 this afternoon, Joey was helped to the Bridge. My heart is broken & I feel so lost. I know we haven't been posting very regular, but I will be taking a few days off so I can grieve for my baby.

Joey wasn't any better at all yesterday, so last night I called an emergency vet clinic & talked to a vet there. She told me to start syringe feeding him chicken baby food & pedialyte. My sister went to the store & got some, then drove a half hour to bring them to me so I wouldn't have to leave Joey.

I've been feeding him about every 4 hours & he seems to being doing some better. He is still very weak, but he is starting to fight me during his feedings so I take that as a good sign. He even came in & got in bed with me this morning, he rarely did that before he got sick. He even ventured into the kitchen awhile ago, so he must be getting a little strength back.
I have to go babysit for 3 or 4 hours tonight & I hate to leave him, but I need the money.

Thank you all for your purrs, purrayers & prayers. Hopefully he will get well & not leave me. He's only been here for about 2 1/2 months, but I can't imagine my life without him.

Update on Joey

UPDATE: We just returned from the vet a few minutes ago. Joey is very anemic, dehydrated & has some jaundice. The vet said it could be (insert big word here) a blood parasite, which is treatable or something else (didn't say what) that isn't. He gave him an antibiotic shot & fluids, along with a dose of liquid vitamins. He sent home the vitamins & some antibiotic capsules & said hopefully this will work. I waited until he was done before I told him I couldn't pay him today, so he let me charge it. Please pray it's the blood parasite & that the antibiotics knock it out so that Joey can get well. Thank you all.

Joey took a bad turn last night & is barely hanging on. I called the vet this morning & he was going out on an emergency call & would let me know when he was back in the office, but that it would be around noon. I just got a call & he's pushed it to 1:15. Please pray that Joey can hold on & that he can be healed from whatever is making him sick.

This is Mama taking over the blog. I'm asking for purrs & purrayers for Joey....for the last week & a half, he has been eating very little & losing weight. I've tried stinky goodness, baby food & even changed the crunchies & nothing is working. The only thing I can get him to eat is Temptations & not very many of them. He was doing a little better yesterday but today he has vomited twice. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

We apawlogize for not blogging & commenting, things around here have been....shall we say strained, for the last few weeks.

But we wanted to wish efurrybuddy a Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays. And we want to thank our furiends that sent us Christmas cards. We also have to apawlogize for not sending out cards, Mama said that time & green papers got away from her.

Hopefully after the holidays Mama will let us write a big, long, boring post about what's been going on. Till then, please don't forget us....

Mama found out that she finally gets to start her new jobbie on Monday!! Of course, she probably could've started about a week & a half ago if she hadn't forgotten to turn in one of her papers....we can't give her too much grief cause the boss lady said there were several that haven't turned in everything. That made Mama feel a little better. She gets to ride the Pre-K bus, which is what she was hoping for, so she's happy!

We probably won't get to post again before Thanksgiving, so we want to wish the whole CB a very Happy Turkey Day!!!

It's bad enough that she leaves us all the time, but she didn't post on Sammy's birthday, we haven't been able to visit our furiends or get to wish ZH Ann a happy birthday!! What should we do with her? We need her to feed us & scoop our poops, but we are about to trade her in. She swears she's gonna get it together soon, but we're not sure. Maybe we'll giver her one more chance....

Finally Friday

Although for us, Friday means Mama's going to Auntie Lori's for the weekend....she's been doing that ALOT!! That's why we haven't been around much, Mama's too busy hanging out with Auntie Lori & their friends. What about OUR furiends?? We want to visit & hang out too. Mama says hopefully her jobbie will start soon ( she hasn't heard when she gets to start yet), then she'll be staying home on the weekends & will help us blog more. Yeah right, she better if she knows what's good for her!

Joey is doing really good, some of us are still not to happy about him joining us, but things have calmed down quite a bit. There's still a little hissing & growling from time to time, but we had that between Emma & Festus anyway. Now she just has one more kitty to fuss at & she does fuss at him! Fes is really jealous because he was Mama's baby & he isn't very happy about having to share her with Joey. But, all in all, we get along pretty good.

Mama wants to thank everyone again for the advice & donations, she will be sending out Thank You cards soon. Her friends laugh about our cat blog, she tells em to go ahead & laugh, but cat bloggers are the best people in the world!!
