Today our Sammy turns 10 years old!  Mama says it doesn't seem like that long ago that he picked her to bring him home.  As usual, she doesn't have any recent pictures uploaded, so we have this one from 4 years ago.
We wanna say Happy Birthday Sammy, & thanks for opening Mama's heart for more kitties!!

Update on Mama & Baby Cole

On this day last month, Mama was in the hospital having emergency surgery on her hurty leg.  She had a septic hematoma, which means she had a lot of built up fluid & blood that got very badly infected.  Mama thought she had the flu & being blonde, didn't connect the swelling & pain in her leg to the high fever she had.  When she finally figured that it might be connected & called her bean v-e-t, they told her to get to the ER!  Within a half hour of being admitted she was in surgery.  They got 2 litres of fluid out of Mama's leg in the operating room & inserted a drain that stayed in her leg for 2 weeks.  She had a staph infection that affected her liver (back to normal now) & the first antibiotic they gave her messed with her kidneys pretty bad.  She has to have blood drawn Thursday to check her levels & we're purraying that the kidneys are back to normal too!  She was in the hospital for 5 days & one of her bosses came to check on us, feed us, & scoop our poops efurry day...we love Mama's bosses as much as she does!!  She also has an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday to make sure her leg is healing like it should.  It's been a crazy few weeks, but we loved having Mama home for 2 weeks after she came home from the hospital!!

Now for something really cute!!  Baby Cole at 7 months...growing like a weed!  He weighs almost 21 lbs, he can eat some baby foods & he's just doing awesome!!  He had to go back to St. Louis Children's hospital the end of Sept. for tests.  They tried him on pedialyte but he got bad diarrhea, so still no other sugars but fructose.  They also took biopsies of his small intestines to see if his body has the enzymes to digest glucose & other sugars.  If so, this may be something he will out-grow.  The results haven't come back yet but they should any day now.

Well, that's pretty much what's been going on around here...we've been taking care of Mama, eating, sleeping, pooping...the usual stuff.  We're still trying to get Mama to help us blog more, but you see how well that's working.  We're gonna keep on trying, it might work someday...right??

Happy 8th Gotcha Day Festus!!

Can't believe it's been 8 years already since I brought that tiny little fluff ball home!  He's still a fluff ball, just not tiny anymore...and I love him with all my heart!!

Wordy Wednesday

Oopsie!  Mama forgot about our blogoversary yesterday, so we wanna thank KC & ML for remindin our furiends ( & Mama) & thank our furiends for stoppin by to see us!!

Mama's leg is still swollen & hurty after almost 3 weeks.  Her bean v-e-t said it will take a long time to heal & that it was a miracle that Mama didn't break her leg.  She also said that when Mama does somethin, she doesn't mess around.  We think that means she hurt it really, really bad...

We have some sad news to report.  You know we're always talkin about Auntie Lori, well she had to help her 15 yr old poodle, Shadow to the Bridge Monday.  He was a good old woofie, he always laid beside Baby Cole's cradle efurry night.  The v-e-t said he probably had cancer & that they couldn't have done anything for him.  Auntie Lori & her family are takin it pretty rough, so if you could spare a few purrs or tail wags for them we'd sure be grateful.

Update on Mama's owie...

Mama goes tomorrow to the bean v-e-t to get her stitches out.  Her leg is still pretty swollen & hurty, she's a little worried about it cause parts of it are hard & a little numb.  We've been pretty good about not hurting her...well Fes jumped right on it last night & boy did we hear words from the bad word list!!  Maybe a few that should be on that list!  But he got up & snuggled her neck for awhile so she forgave him.  All in all, we've been been very good.
We wanna thank all of our furiends for the get well-wishes for Mama, it just means the world to us!

Poor Mama

Mama is such a klutz!!  Last Sunday she stepped on Emma & ended up falling in the floor & bruised up her right knee pretty bad.  If that wasn't enough, she fell at Auntie Lori's on Thursday & ended up with 5 stitches!!
Auntie Lori & Uncle Nick are remodeling an old Victorian house.  Mama had to go potty really bad & her nephew was in the downstairs bathroom...so she decided to use the one upstairs.  She'd never seen the one upstairs & she opened the door, took a step (without looking at the floor) & fell into about a 3 ft hole!!  The hole was there so Uncle Nick could get to the pipes & no one else ever uses that bathroom.  Thankfully she didn't go through the ceiling & the nephew, Shaun was there in seconds!  He pulled her out & Auntie Lori took her to the ER (after a half hour of Mama saying she wasn't going!)  So she got stitched up & stayed at Auntie Lori's house a couple days.
She's still hurting quite a bit & we are trying not to jump on her left leg but we forget sometimes...she always manages to catch us before we land though.  So far anyway...

Festus is in trouble...

Mama is mad at Fes...he decided the litter boxes needed scooped so he peed on a pile of dirty clothes Mama had in the bathroom. They were already dirty so we don't see what he big deal is, but she doesn't see it that way.
So, she decided she was gonna give an update on Baby Cole & put a picture of her & him on our bloggie.  Mama & Auntie Lori (Cole's grandma) took Cole to St. Louis for a check-up on Monday.  The baby bean v-e-ts were so surprised when they saw him!!  He now weighs 17 lbs & 8 oz, has 2 teeth & cutting more & is just in general a big ole healthy baby!!  He gets to start eating pureed chicken to see how he does on foods.  He has to go back in September & be admitted for a couple days for tests & to be started on other foods where he can be monitored.  It's amazing how much he's grown in 2 months!  Cole was 4 months old on July 4th...he's come a very long way.  If ya can't tell by the picture...Mama loves him bunches!!

This is an old picture of Fes cause Mama is BAD!!  She has a squillion pics of Baby Cole & few new ones of us.
Anyway, it doesn't seem possible that Festus is 8 yrs old already!  He's still a mama's boy & is constantly lickin on her neck (EWWWW!!).  As bad as Mama is, he still loves her...I guess we all do, after all she hands out the treats, fills the food bowls & scoops the poop.
